(TITC) - On 28th August 2024, in Ha Noi, Mr. Ho An Phong, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism (MOCST) of Vietnam had a meeting with Delegation of Chongzuo City (Guangxi, China), leading by Mr. Lan Xiao, Secretary of the Party Committee of Chongzuo City. Attending the meeting were Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Chairman of Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) and leaders of a number of units under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

Introducing the tourism potentials and advantages of Chongzuo City, Secretary of the Party Committee of Chongzuo City Lan Xiao stated, Chongzuo has great potential for cultural tourism, shares a border with Vietnam, and is the core area of the China-Vietnam border tourism belt. At the meeting, Mr. Lan Xiao made a number of proposals to promote development in various fields between the two sides, including: Official operation in the Landscape Area of Waterfall of Ban Gioc (Vietnam) - Detian (China); Promote the establishment of the Van Lang (Vietnam) - Pingxiang (China) cross-border tourism cooperation zone.
Notably, Mr. Lan Xiao also proposed to strengthen "red tourism" cooperation between China and Vietnam, building an alliance to promote red tourism, and the China-Vietnam friendship journey "Following Uncle Ho's footsteps".

Welcoming the Delegation of Chongzuo City (Guangxi, China) to the MOCST’s headquarter, MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ho An Phong highly appreciates the proposed opinions of Mr. Lan Xiao and emphasised that Vietnam and China are two friendly and close neighbouring countries, with the increasingly developing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Vietnam and China are two countries with beautiful natural landscapes, friendly people, and unique cultural values... creating great potential and conditions for cooperation in developing culture and tourism. In particular, Chongzuo City is one of the gateways for development linkage between China and Vietnam as well as ASEAN countries.

MOCST’s Deputy Minister Ho An Phong expressed his support and agreed to promote cooperation between the two sides in developing, preserving and promoting the cultural values and natural landscapes of the two sides. The two sides need to have more specific actions to promote development cooperation in various fields. Vietnam and China need to work together to preserve and develop the cultural and natural values in the border area between the two countries, contributing to making this place a new and attractive destination not only for the two countries but also for the whole of Asia.
