Mr. Vo Van Hung, Chairman of Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee said, Quang Tri and Mukdahan have many similarities in culture, natural conditions, potentials and advantages in natural and human resources. Both provinces are located on the East-West Economic Corridor connecting Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar which is one of five economic corridors in the Greater Mekong Subregion. This is a favourable condition for the two provinces to continue to strengthen effective cooperation in all appropriate fields.

At the signing ceremony, Mr. Vorayan Bunarat, Governor of Mukdahan Province affirmed that over the past nearly 20 years, since Mukdahan Province and Quang Tri Province established cooperative relations in the fields of trade, investment, tourism, labour and communications, the two sides have always maintained good relations in all areas of cooperation.

Governor of Mukdahan Province Vorayan Bunarat believes that the signing ceremony of the Cooperation Plan between Quang Tri Province and Mukdahan Province for the period 2025 - 2030 will bring the relationship between the two provinces to a new stage of development with a higher and deeper level.

The cooperation plan, which is effective from January 1, 2025 to December 31, 2030, covers various fields, including economy, investment, trade and tourism, training, labour, human resources development and communications.

Regarding economic, investment, trade and tourism cooperation, the two provinces will create favourable conditions for businesses of each side to explore and access information on investment potential and opportunities, organise conferences and seminars on investment and trade promotion in each province in turn. In particular, prioritise cooperation in the field of high-tech agriculture; cooperation in the field of seafood processing.

Along with that, the two sides will support and facilitate trade promotion. Prioritise and have practical support policies in the spirit of the special relationship between the two provinces and two countries for businesses investing in promoting and introducing Mukdahan products in Quang Tri and Quang Tri products in Mukdahan.

The two sides will facilitate the promotion and encouragement of cooperation in tourism, passenger and cargo transport. They will direct functional sectors to build common tours and routes, connect traffic to serve trade and tourism development and coordinate in organising cultural, artistic, physical education and sports exchanges.

On collaboration in training, labour and human resource development, the two sides will consider supporting and encouraging universities and colleges to exchange lecturers and students, and create conditions for educational institutions to implement cooperation; vocational high-quality training; exchange of labour resources, initially in the field of tourism; enhancing labour capacity and qualifications relevant to market needs to meet the labour mobility in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Community.

Regarding communication and promotion activities, the two sides will continue to coordinate and actively participate in events of each country as well as those of provinces on the East-West Economic Corridor. Media agencies regularly exchange and cooperate to introduce the land, people, scenic spots, historical and cultural relic sites of the two sides. Both sides will increase exchange of experience and information on craft village products according to the One Tambon One Product (OTOP) model of Thailand or the One Commune One Product (OCOP) model of Vietnam.
