(TITC) - On 14th June 2023, in Ha Noi, Mr. Ha Van Sieu, Vice Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) had a meeting with Mr. Zhao Xiong, Secretary of the Jianshui County CPC (Yunnan Province, China).

VNAT’s Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu stated, Jianshui is a beautiful city with many famous tourist attractions and historical sites. Having many similarities in culture, along with the friendly neighbourly relationship, the two sides have numerous advantages to enhance cooperation in tourism and culture.

Mr. Zhao Xiong, Secretary of the Jianshui County CPC (Yunnan Province, China) said, the purpose of this business trip to Vietnam is to promote exchanges and learn from Vietnam's tourism development experiences, thereby enhancing connection activities between the two sides, and promoting the development of the tourism industry.
Yunnan Province shares a border with Dien Bien, Lao Cai, Lai Chau and Ha Giang provinces of Vietnam. With the development of transport infrastructure, travelling among localities is immensely convenient, therefore, Mr. Zhao Xiong hopes that the two sides will enhance culture and tourism exchange activities, creating more favourable conditions for people to travel.

Agreed with the views of Mr. Zhao Xiong, VNAT’s Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu stressed, in the upcoming time, Vietnam tourism will expand cooperation with localities of China, promote sharing of economic, cultural and tourism exchanges… In the soonest convenience, Vietnam tourism will organise a roadshow to introduce tourism in Yunnan Province and a fam trip delegation to learn tourism in Jianshui City to build tours, thereby contributing to increasing the number of visitors to exchange between the two sides. VNAT’s Vice Chairman Ha Van Sieu further suggested that the two sides will support tourism businesses and communication and promotion work so that tourism information of the two sides will be spread widely to the people.

Regarding tourism cooperation with China, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on tourism cooperation with the localities of Macau, Sichuan, Chongqing, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shandong.
China has always been Vietnam's leading source tourist market, accounting for a high proportion (about 30% on average) of the total number of international visitors to Vietnam. In 2019, the number of Chinese visitors to Vietnam reached 5,806,425 arrivals. Vietnam is one of five largest tourist source markets that to China. According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of China, in 2019 there were 7,948,000 Vietnamese visitors to China.
